Our trip started out at Maggie Valley by the Jonathan River a night then we got on the Blue Ridge Parkway going to Cherokee Indian Reservation North Carolina rather than Asheville. The sign pointed us in the wrong direction. We had to return via Highway 19 while 2 motorcycles pasted us at high-speed going up the mountain then unfortunately coming down the mountain into Maggie Valley again one of those couples lost control of their big bike and had hit the guard rail with no one left standing. That is very sorrowful. We joined the Blue Ridge Parkway again east of Asheville and drove by Mount Mitchell all the way to Boone where we ask for a room at the Holiday Inn Express and they gave us an upgrade to a suite with 2 rooms and a double Jacuzzi bath tub. We ate at the Daniel Boone End restaurant fabulous family style. I wanted to then take 221 back home but Janette wanted to see the Amish so we drove to Western Maryland even though I did not remember the name of the Amish place I had stayed overnight before. We saw the sign for Friendly's but it did not look like the exit I had taken so we missed it. By the time we arrived at West Virginia Welcome Center it was too late to began backtracking, we took a Micro-Motel and I was quite impressed with Microtel creatively designed & inexpensive especially in that they had boiled eggs for breakfast. They had 5 handicap bars on their shower tub and many of the fixings were like the Hampton Inns. We stayed at a new Hampton Inn coming home on I-81 in the Shenandoah Valley and it was spectacularly beautiful and comfortable. They had left no stone unturned even with 6 handicap rails in the bathtub. The traffic in Baltimore and Washington was just too much to contend with. We never found the Amish but seeing the plaque and you all was worth it by far & away. Thanks to my lovely wife and life sweetheart. She is the great designer floral artist who made us a living for so many years of hard work and she is so much smarter than me. I think most women are smarter than men and certainly accomplish more important work. The Commonwealth of Virginia is under siege by the state police using unmarked and marked cars, motorcycles and whatever moves. I have never seen such a police state. Our bank Carolina First has been sold to a Canadian bank after retiring its CEO-founder with $18 million and receiving $347 million bailout money. It has been losing big money. The Canadian bank is paying off that $347 million bailout for $130 million so there goes the money to a foreign bank. All this news just as I open my overdraft notice charging my account with $34.00 for overdrawing $12 last month. It is a wonderful Life to be living.
